Job summary

Hometown Health Center in Palmyra, ME is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to provide day-to-day HR support, manage applicant tracking, onboarding, and recordkeeping in compliance with applicable laws and policies.

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, you will handle onboarding packets, HR data changes, training tracking, and confidential personnel files, contributing to a positive employee experience across the organization.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a human resources, HR assistant, or payroll/benefits support role, preferably in a healthcare or similar regulated environment.
• Demonstrated experience with HR data entry, personnel file maintenance, and routine HR document preparation.
• Experience supporting recruiting and onboarding processes, including posting jobs, tracking applicants, scheduling interviews, and coordinating new‑hire paperwork.
• Experience working with HRIS, payroll, or applicant tracking systems, plus proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard office software.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially in data entry, recordkeeping, and document handling.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with staff at all levels while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and new-hire paperwork.
• Maintain HR data records and documentation in an organized, audit-ready manner.
• Track employee training and performance evaluations.
• Support benefits enrollment and communications with vendors.
• Handle routine HR inquiries with a high level of discretion and professionalism.
