Job summary

Magna International in Iowa is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to assist with HR administration, including employee relations, compensation and benefits, recruitment, staffing and plant communications.

The role supports the HR Manager and serves as backup, performing payroll tasks, maintaining job descriptions, and ensuring timely promotion processes and policy compliance. A strong HR background and communication skills are essential.

• Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, business correspondence, instructions, procedures and guidelines.
• Excellent oral and written communications and presentation skills with the ability to respond to questions from internal and external customers.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Highly self motivated and flexible.
• Capable of working under pressure and with short completion time on projects.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to multitask.
• Strong understanding of the human resources body of knowledge.
• Computer experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer payroll programs according to company policies and guidelines.
• Work with production leadership to ensure proper staffing levels are maintained.
• Work with external agencies when needed.
• Conduct recruiting activities to support production requirements.
• Ensure internal promotion process is followed according to company policies and completed in timely manner.
• Maintain job descriptions and associate handbook to current levels.
• Maintain high profile with all associates to build positive relationships, ensuring associate concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
• Provides a resource to floor associates and leadership team in employee relations issues.
• Follow and support MBCI’s and Magna’s operating principles.
• Provide necessary support to Human Resources Manager and serves as backup in the manager’s absence.
• Assist in the maintenance of the human resources associate information databases.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
