Job summary

Arizona Department of Veterans' Services is seeking an HR Generalist in Phoenix to perform professional HR administration, including leave management, employee relations, benefits, and recruitment support. The role supports veterans, service members and families, offering meaningful work and AMS-driven professional growth.

Key tasks include onboarding, HRIS data entry, benefits administration, orientation, and handling disciplinary procedures.

Qualifications

• One year of HR experience or equivalent combination of work experience/education
• Knowledge of state and federal personnel laws and procedures
• Ability to interpret and apply HR rules and policies
• Proficient in MS Office and HRIS tools
• Ability to travel on State business and maintain confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply State Personnel System rules and policies
• Onboarding and I-9 verification
• Prepare personnel action forms
• Enter data into HRIS for hires, promotions, and salary changes
• Manage benefits enrollment and leave tracking
• Conduct new hire orientation and respond to inquiries
• Prepare disciplinary action letters and performance plans
• Attend meetings and trainings relevant to HR duties
