Job summary

Professional Pavement Services is seeking an HR Generalist 1 to manage daily HR operations in Ohio. Responsibilities include onboarding, payroll administration, benefits, and policy enforcement to support a growing team.

The role requires 1–2 years of HR experience and a Bachelor’s Degree. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with corporate values of teamwork and integrity.

Qualifications

• One to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the Human Resources field.
• Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding: support onboarding requirements and checklists for new hires or rehires including background checks, drug screens, orientation and employee eligibility verifications while coordinating with relevant departments.
• Employee Records: reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
• Recruitment/Interviewing: recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competences required for the openings.
• Employee Inquiries: handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
• Training/Evaluations: coordinate and assist with employee training sessions, and performance evaluations.
• Team Members: performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters including terminations; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, company events and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
• Compliance: maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Other: maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
