A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Human Resources Assistant in Chicago. This role involves supporting the hiring process, coordinating orientation, and performing clerical tasks. Ideal candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree and have strong organizational and communication skills, with a focus on detail. The position requires the ability to work in a typical office environment, with potential exposure to various hospital areas.
Job Summary: Assist with the new employee hiring process by collecting all completed paperwork and I-9 documentation. Inform applicants about position details, including working conditions, benefits, and duties. Assist with the hiring process for new employees. Respond to employment reference and verification inquiries. Coordinate Hospital Orientation. Perform clerical functions such as typing, mailing, distributing memos and correspondence, maintaining personnel and departmental records, reports, inventory, and supplies. Complete reports and audits as assigned. Participate in hospital surveys, performance evaluations, open enrollments, and other projects.
Job Specifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform primary duties satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: 2+ years in HR-related fields preferred.
Licensure/Certification: None required.
Knowledge: Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently. Strong organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Typing ability of 45+ WPM, knowledge of Word required, and familiarity with Excel, Access, HRIS/Database, and ATS systems is preferred.
Supervision Received: Director of Human Resources / HR Manager.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Line of Promotion: Human Resources Generalist.
Working Conditions: Office environment with travel to other hospital areas. Possible exposure to psychiatric patients exhibiting violent behavior and potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous waste. Typical hospital environment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds. Repetitive typing and keying. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
