Duties and Responsibilities

This position primarily provides administrative and transactional support to Human Resources.

• Provide exceptional front-line service and support to faculty, staff, students and retirees contacting Human Resources by responding to inquiries efficiently, with a problem-solving approach. This includes redirecting inquiries to the appropriate team member or university office for assistance and resolution as necessary.
• Facilitate and respond to various verification requests for employment, loans, benefits, and other requests.
• Enter and maintain data within the HR/Payroll system and across other systems.
• Assist with benefits enrollment and respond to general benefits questions from employees.
• Read and route incoming mail; prepare outgoing mail and correspondence including email and inter-office mail.
• Order and maintain office supply inventory.
• Arrange for office equipment repair and maintenance.
• Prepare financial records such as payment requisitions, expense reports, and procurement card records.
• Conduct research, compile, and create reports, compose correspondence, take notes and perform similar administrative tasks.
• Assist with and support HR website content changes.
• Supervise student workers.
• Assist with ad hoc projects and other administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

Bachelor’s Degree, with a focus in HR preferred; or, actively working towards completion of a Degree, with equivalent HR experience. HR certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• A commitment to helping others and demonstrated success in a role requiring extensive customer interaction.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines while managing conflicting priorities.
• The ability to handle confidential information discreetly and protect employee privacy.
• Experience in problem-solving to resolve issues. Must be able to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to pick up new systems and software easily.
• Interest in Human Resources.
