Job summary

CAI is seeking an HR Compliance Manager to lead our compliance program across multi-state workforce and contingent workers. You will partner with HR, Legal, Governance, and IT to implement policies, procedures, and reliable operations in a dynamic risk landscape, including AI-related considerations.

You will own background checks, regulatory reporting, and training compliance, while guiding a high-performing team in a fully remote, full-time role.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of progressive HR compliance or employment law experience across multiple states
• Two+ years of people management and policy drafting experience

Responsibilities

• Own the Compliance Program and policy ownership including employee manuals and SOPs
• Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local employment laws; advise on wage/hour, leave, pay transparency
• Prepare and file workforce reports and certifications (EEO-1, state data); support the affirmative action plan
• Oversee background checks, drug screening, and MVR adjudication under FCRA and fairness laws
• Identify required compliance training by jurisdiction; coordinate with Talent Development
• Support audits (SOC 2) and client questionnaires with evidence
• Monitor AI governance; review AI tools for compliance, privacy, and risk
• Define Workday compliance workflows and reporting; manage escalation and risk
• Lead the team; drive performance management and development planning
• Make policy-based compliance decisions and elevate high-risk matters to VP/Legal
