Job summary

CAMBA in New York City seeks an Intake Specialist to coordinate housing crisis intake, assess risk, and connect clients with resources. You will handle eligibility reviews, document preparation, and referrals while maintaining up‑to‑date client files.

The role requires strong communication, writing ability and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A minimum HS diploma and 4+ years of related experience are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Four years of relevant experience, preferably in a mid-sized organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong writing skills for assessments, service plans and reports.
• Good communication skills to present information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to apply basic math to practical situations.
• Willingness to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate intake with individuals and families facing housing crises and review eligibility documentation.
• Assess homelessness risk based on program guidelines.
• Explain services, eligibility requirements and limitations to clients.
• Schedule appointments, make referrals, and provide information on community resources.
• Create and maintain client files and coordinate with internal/external resources.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision and training to improve skills.
