Job summary

CAMBA is seeking an Intake Specialist to coordinate the intake process for individuals and families facing housing crises. You will assess eligibility, explain services, schedule referrals, and maintain client records.

Reporting to the Assistant Director/Program Manager, you will collaborate with program staff, participate in meetings, and stay informed on homelessness prevention guidelines to help New Yorkers access housing resources.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four years of relevant experience, preferably in a mid-sized organization.
• Strong writing skills for assessments, service plans, progress notes, and reports.
• Good communication skills to present information to supervisors, clients, funders, and the public.
• Ability to apply fractions, decimals, and percentages to practical situations.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions.
• Willingness to learn and adapt.
• Proficiency in another language is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the intake process with individuals and families facing housing crises, gathering detailed information on their situation, housing history, income, and barriers.
• Assess homelessness risk based on program guidelines.
• Explain the homelessness prevention program’s services, eligibility, and limitations to potential clients.
• Schedule appointments, make referrals, and provide information on community resources.
• Maintain up-to-date client resources in reception areas and assist with outreach.
• Create and maintain client files (hard copy and electronic) and assist with reception duties.
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure coordinated service delivery.
• Stay informed about housing trends, local resources, and guidelines related to homelessness prevention.
