Job summary

CAMBA is seeking an Intake Specialist in Brooklyn, NY to coordinate intake for families facing housing crises and assess homelessness risk. You will inform clients about program services, schedule referrals, and maintain up-to-date resource information in the reception area.

Requires strong writing, communication, and MS Office proficiency. Position is full-time at 35 hours/week at our Fulton Street location in Brooklyn.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Ability to apply basic math concepts to practical situations.
• Good problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the intake process with individuals and families facing housing crises.
• Assess homelessness risk based on criteria and program guidelines.
• Explain services, eligibility, and limitations to potential clients.
• Schedule appointments, referrals, and provide information on community resources.
• Maintain client files and update resources in reception area.
• Conduct outreach to publicize services and engage clients.
• Create and maintain hard copy and electronic files.
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure coordinated service delivery.
• Perform data entry, filing, copying, and faxing of documents.
