Job summary

Kana Hotel Group is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to lead ongoing hotel maintenance operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and energy management. You will supervise a technical team, ensure safety and compliance, and coordinate with management on schedules and budgets.

The role requires 5+ years in a supervisory maintenance capacity, strong technical knowledge, and a commitment to high service standards within a hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Vocational certificate or apprenticeship in technical/mechanical/facilities preferred
• Experience as a Building Engineer or equivalent facilities trade 5+ years required
• Experience supervising maintenance 2+ years or combination of education and experience
• Technical certifications preferred
• Expert knowledge of hand/tools, plumbing, electrical, AC/HVAC systems
• Licenses or permits ( Boiler Operating Permit, State Electrician license, EPA CFC) obtained within six months if not present

Responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain hotel maintenance operations across HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems
• Estimate labor hours and coordinate work to meet production schedules
• Coordinate activities with management and other supervisors
• Maintain records for HVAC, MEP, electrical and plumbing systems
• Provide training and development for maintenance staff
• Ensure safety compliance with city, state and federal laws
• Respond promptly to guest requests while upholding brand standards
• Oversee inventory control and ordering for engineering needs
• Support long-term budget planning and energy management programs
• Assist with insurance claims for HVAC and central equipment
• Audit and coordinate with contractors for maintenance work
