Job summary

The Switchboard Operator role at MaineHealth is responsible for prompt and efficient telephone communications between outside callers and the organization, providing paging announcements and greeting the public with information in line with policy.

The position also manages the paging and alarm systems and responds to hospital emergencies, collaborating with clinical teams, security, facilities, patients, and visitors. May support Patient Access and maintain the master directory.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Related experience in customer service or dispatch/switchboard preferred.
• Additional Skills: Data entry, Word, email, and internet communication are helpful.

Responsibilities

• Prompt and efficient telephone communications between individuals outside and inside the organization.
• Operate paging announcements and manage the paging system, hospital alarms, and emergencies.
• Greet the public and provide information; work with care teams, security, facilities, patients and the public; support Patient Access as needed.
