Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a patient-focused Food Service Coordinator to act as the main liaison between food and nutrition and patients. You will manage meal orders, deliver trays, and document intake for calories and nutrition needs.

You will also process diet changes, track allergies, and balance meals according to physician orders. The role requires excellent customer service, the ability to multitask, and clear communication with nursing staff and other departments.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 1 year of experience in performing face-to-face customer service.
• Strong knowledge in food service from within a hospital, restaurant or related environment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills to interact with a variety of people.

Responsibilities

• Acts as key contact between food and nutrition and the patient; obtain meals orders.
• Delivers meals, collects trays, and records intake for calorie counts.
• Process diet changes and document allergies, preferences, and interactions.
• Balance nutrient portions using physician diet orders and allergies in software.
• Maintain patient information, generate and communicate reports.
• Load and transport food carts; deliver to patient rooms and lounges.
• Communicate patient needs to food, nutrition, and nursing teams.
• Follow safety and sanitation standards; use isolation precautions when needed.
• Inventory and order floor stock on patient units.
