Job summary

Advocate Health in Illinois is seeking a Food Service/Patient Assistant to coordinate patient meal orders and nutrition support. You will work from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm or 11:30 am to 8:00 pm, with rotating weekends and holidays, ensuring timely meal delivery and accurate dietary documentation.

You will act as a liaison between food service and patient care, handle diet changes, document allergies, and support nutrition staff to ensure patient satisfaction and safe nourishment in a hospital

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of hospital or related food service.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, route calls, greet patients, place orders, and troubleshoot food issues.
• Self-directed, able to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
• Good organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Acts as key contact between food and nutrition and the patient; takes meal orders per scripting and customer service standards.
• Delivers meals and collects patient trays; records intake for calories and notes patient nutrition concerns.
• Processes diet changes and orders; documents allergies and interactions; balances nutrients per diet orders.
• Maintains patient information in records; reports quality issues and nutrition concerns to a dietitian.
• Generates reports and communicates findings; coordinates with expeditor to balance ticket flow.
• Delivers and stocks meals and nourishments across units; communicates patient needs to nursing and nutrition staff.
