Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Food Service Associate to accurately prepare, expedite, validate and deliver patient meals and nourishments, ensuring patient satisfaction and adherence to safety standards.

You will assist with menu selections, communicate patient needs to the diet office, handle cash transactions, and maintain sanitation. The role requires standing for long periods in a fast-paced hospital environment and collaboration with nursing and kitchen staff.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year experience in hospitality or customer service.
• Ability to speak, read and write English clearly.
• Ability to count and perform basic mathematical functions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to relate to a diverse audience.

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepares, expedites, validates and delivers patient meals, nourishments, and floor stock.
• Assists patients with menu selection and communicates special meal requests to the diet office.
• Deliver and retrieve meal trays within the designated time frame and verify accuracy at the point of service.
• Communicate patient needs to nursing and report missing items to the kitchen.
• Perform daily cafe/trayline tasks and maintain sanitation and stock in assigned areas.
• Respond promptly to calls, maintain HIPAA confidentiality in communications.
• Distribute patient menus according to dietary requirements; handle cash-related activities.
• Follow standardized recipes and food safety processes; support patient and customer satisfaction.
