Job summary

Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center Campus seeks a Laboratory Manager to join our team. This role supports the Microbiology department and STAT labs at the TMC Campus.

The position requires hospital experience, leadership, and extensive supervisory skills, with a focus on quality, safety and efficiency in a high-volume laboratory.

You will oversee operations, ensure regulatory compliance, mentor staff, and partner with the Laboratory Director to deliver excellent patient care.

Qualifications

• Education and licensing requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology, biological sciences, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Licenses/certifications listed include MLS/HTL/CT/CHS/CHT and related board certifications as required by ABHI, ASCP, AMT.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement processes to monitor and improve customer satisfaction in the laboratory.
• Support system and campus customer service initiatives and foster strong interdepartmental relationships.
• Lead and manage relationships with laboratory staff and other departments to ensure collaboration.
• Drive continuous improvement of laboratory processes and quality initiatives, aligning with hospital quality processes.
• Supervise laboratory processes and staff, manage inventory, staffing, payroll, and ensure efficiency.
• Conduct employee performance evaluations and participate in hiring decisions; communicate policies and initiatives.
• Develop departmental procedures to meet regulatory compliance (TJC, FDA, CAP, CLIA, OSHA, HCFA).
• Ensure safety and compliance with Memorial Hermann policies within budget and time constraints.
• Promote professional growth, mentor staff, and provide patient- and colleague-centered service experiences.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
