Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a Laboratory Manager to lead operations for Microbiology and STAT labs on the Texas Medical Center Campus. The role oversees staff, quality, and patient care, ensuring efficiency and cost control while delivering compassionate service.

The ideal candidate has hospital Lab leadership experience, strong communication, and a track record supervising 25+ employees in a high-demand setting, with relevant MLS/HTL/CT certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor-level degree in medical laboratory fields or related area.
• Licenses/certifications: MLS/HTL/CT or ABHI/AMT credentials preferred.
• Experience: 4+ years in laboratory operations with supervisory exposure.

Responsibilities

• Works with the Director to develop and implement processes and initiatives that monitor and improve customer satisfaction.
• Supports system and campus customer service initiatives; responsive to customer service issues.
• Builds and maintains trusted relationships with lab staff and other departments.
• Continuously improves laboratory processes and quality; supports hospital quality initiatives.
• Oversees training and competency of laboratory staff and performs evaluations.
• Participates in hiring and termination decisions and communicates policies to staff.
• Develops procedures to meet regulatory compliance (TJC, FDA, CAP, CLIA, OSHA, HCFA).
• Ensures safe patient care and adherence to Memorial Hermann policies within budget.
• Promotes professional growth; acts as preceptor and mentor to staff.
• Models Memorial Hermann service standards with safe, caring, personalized experiences.
