Job summary

Mercy Health in Cincinnati is seeking a Telecommunications Operator to expedite telephone, radio, pager and public address communications across the hospital, including emergency announcements and notifications in line with the Emergency Preparedness Manual.

You will contact on-call teams, coordinate interpretation requests, monitor alarms, manage pagers and devices, document shift occurrences and assist managers with department communications and ordering office supplies as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in telecommunications systems and hospital communication protocols.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Experience with on-call scheduling and emergency notification processes.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and route all internal and external calls promptly and courteously.
• Coordinate language and sign language interpretation requests.
• Monitor alarms and respond to security, maintenance, weather, and emergency codes.
• Maintain pagers and hospital directory; update contact information.
• Document calls and on-call activity per site protocol.
• Assist managers with ordering department phones and taking notes at staff meetings.
