Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a dedicated Emergency Dispatcher to handle emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinate with fire, police, hospitals, and helicopter services, and maintain critical communication systems. The role requires monitoring multiple channels, prioritizing calls, and providing pre-arrival instructions per Medical Priority protocols.

The position is 40 hours per week with night shifts; prior experience in hospital or emergency dispatch is preferred and requires EM Dispatcher

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 3 years’ experience in hospital, pre-hospital or emergency dispatching preferred
• Minimum 1 year post high school coursework in medical terminology and/or related field

Responsibilities

• Takes scheduled and emergency requests for REACT, NICU, ER, Labor and Delivery, Security, ECC, Pecatonica and Win-Bur-Sew Fire Departments and other agencies.
• Prioritizes all calls and dispatches to appropriate agency in proper response configuration.
• Monitors 8 radio channels, 2 intercoms, 6 remote repeater sites, 20 phone lines, and weather radio; answers calls professionally.
• Operates CAD and Aeromed Software; activates trauma team for incoming emergencies.
• Ensures ECC is operational 24 hours a day and follows hospital policies and procedures.
