Job summary

Amedisys, part of the Optum family, provides home health, hospice and community-based services to support patients in their homes. This Per Diem PTA role works under a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver skilled care and improve mobility, strength and safety in home settings.

You’ll collaborate with patients, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team to promote recovery and quality of life in the home environment, with a focus on personalized care and safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited physical therapy assistant educational program as set by CAPTE.
• Current license to practice as a physical therapy assistant in the assigned state.
• Current CPR certification.
• One year related physical therapy experience for PTAs entering home health care.
• If less than one year of experience, approval from regional clinical leaders and mentoring/residency participation

Responsibilities

• Provides physical therapy services under supervision of a licensed PT per plan of care.
• Observes and reports patient response to treatment to supervising PT and clinical staff.
• Provides resources for future needs and promotes wellness.
• Documents supervisory activities in the patient’s record.
• Monitors and documents response to PT intervention.
• Participates in care conferences, trainings, QA activities, and peer review.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
• Makes follow-up care recommendations with coordinating agencies and resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned

CAPTE accredited PTA program

PTA license

CPR certification

1 year PTA home health experience

Mentoring/residency for <1 year experience
