Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Superintendent in Waynesboro, VA to manage multiple home construction projects from permit to closing.

You will coordinate subcontractors, schedule inspections, and ensure projects meet safety and quality standards on time and within budget. Ideal candidates have strong communication skills, budget awareness, and experience reading construction documents. The role requires driving across communities and delivering a top-notch customer experience throughout the

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two to four years related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and knowledge of all phases of new homes construction.
• General knowledge of municipal permitting, regulations and building codes.
• Ability to converse with customers, all levels of management and personnel.
• Proficiency with MS Office and email.

Responsibilities

• Manage the construction schedule and ensure high quality is delivered on time and within budget.
• Schedule subcontractors and evaluate quality/efficiency for code compliance and workmanship.
• Complete each home site from planning through occupancy, satisfying contract obligations.
• Inspect and approve subcontractor work and halt noncompliant work.
• Authorize subcontractor payments after inspection of work and materials.
• Oversee customer experience during construction; communicate progress and address concerns.
• Maintain community cleanliness and visual appeal on site.
• Manage post-close warranty process and schedule subcontractors for warranty work.
• Follow up with homeowners to address concerns promptly.
• Maintain knowledge of all applicable building codes.
• Collaborate with sales, warranty, and management for open communication and quality.
