Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Transportation is hiring a Highway Maintenance Worker in Milbank. This full-time position involves outdoor maintenance of state highways, signing, markings, and safety tasks, with shifts varying by season. A CDL with N: Tank Vehicles endorsement must be obtained within 120 days.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment or farming/ranching equipment is preferred.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and basic computer operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway maintenance, roadside activities, and traffic control.
• Install/repair signs, pavement markings, and guardrails; maintain facilities.
• Respond to emergencies and winter maintenance tasks; work in all weather.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools; ensure safety and compliance.
