Job summary

South Dakota Department of Transportation seeks Highway Maintenance Worker in Murdo. You will help keep state highways safe by performing maintenance, installing signs, and maintaining facilities.

Work includes outside duties in all weather with traffic nearby and a mix of long and short shifts across seasons. The role requires a valid driver's license and CDL within 120 days, with weekend and holiday coverage during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment used in highway maintenance is preferred.
• Basic math skills are required.
• Basic computer operation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway maintenance, signage, pavement markings, and guardrail work.
• Operate and maintain equipment, respond to emergencies, and assist in winter maintenance.
• Work 10-hour days May–Sept and 8-hour days Oct–Apr; night/weekend shifts during emergencies.
