Job summary

South Dakota Department of Transportation seeks a Highway Maintenance Worker to keep state highways safe and drivable. You will work in a crew on roadway maintenance, signage, pavement markings, guardrails, and winter maintenance, with shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays during emergencies.

The ideal candidate has experience operating heavy equipment or farming/ranching equipment, holds a valid driver license, and can obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 120 days.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment or farming/ranching equipment.
• Valid driver license with ability to obtain CDL within 120 days.
• Class A CDL with tanker endorsement (N) and no restrictions, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway maintenance, roadside activities, and installations (signs, traffic devices).
• Maintain/repair guardrail systems and pavement markings.
• Respond to emergencies and operate a variety of equipment safely.
