Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Transportation is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker in Aberdeen. You will join a crew to install and maintain pavement markings and signage to keep State highways safe and drivable.

Position requires lifting, operating highway equipment, and working in all weather conditions. Regular schedule varies by season with 10-hour days (May–Sept) and 8-hour days (Oct–Apr); night/weekend work during emergencies and inclement weather is required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating highway equipment and/or construction preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and handle physical duties.
• Ability to work in varied weather and traffic environments.

Responsibilities

• Install pavement markings to provide direction and safety.
• Sweep roadways and bridges; maintain and repair trucks and equipment.
• Perform winter maintenance to ensure public mobility and safety.
