The South Dakota Department of Transportation in Menno, SD is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker to join a crew responsible for keeping state highways safe and drivable. The role includes a schedule of 10-hour days, 4 days per week from May to September and 8-hour days, Monday to Friday for rest of the year, with night/weekend shifts as needed.

Ideal candidates will have experience with heavy equipment, a valid driver license and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement

Qualifikationen

• Experience operating heavy equipment or farming/ranching equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of road maintenance methods and basic math.
• Ability to lift 35–90 pounds and operate a manual transmission.

Aufgaben

• Perform roadway maintenance activities and roadside tasks.
• Install/replace signs, traffic control devices, and pavement markings.
• Maintain and repair guardrail systems and department facilities.
• Provide on-the-job training and supervise work when needed.
• Respond to emergencies and hazardous weather incidents.
