Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader for highway design within the New England Transportation team. The role can be based in Boston, MA, East Hartford, CT, or Manchester, NH, overseeing design projects from inception to completion.

You will mentor junior staff, coordinate technical advancement, and ensure compliance with regulations while delivering innovative transportation solutions for diverse client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects, communicating the vision for final deliverables and ensuring technical accuracy.
• Provide day-to-day oversight of transportation planning and design projects, meeting milestones and quality standards.
• Supervise, review, and mentor junior engineers; provide technical guidance and training for growth.
• Develop project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Technical Leaders and Project Managers to deliver high-complexity projects for clients.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; sign and seal designs as required.
• Perform site reviews and studies to align with location specifications and update requirements as needed.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client RFPs and review drafts for adherence to standards.
