Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader for highway design within the New England Transportation team. Based in Boston, MA; East Hartford, CT; or Manchester, NH, you will lead technical work, mentor junior engineers, and deliver innovative, compliant highway solutions for complex transportation projects.

You will oversee design development, collaborate with project teams, and ensure quality and regulatory adherence from concept through final design, including cost estimation and client communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering; PE license required.
• 10 years of related experience; willingness to travel domestically or internationally.
• Experience with highway design projects and project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects, ensure accuracy throughout the lifecycle.
• Provide day-to-day oversight of transportation planning and design projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Develop design criteria, alignments, construction plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Leaders/Managers to deliver high-complexity projects.
• Review draft designs for compliance with regulations and sign/seal designs as required.
• Support proposals and respond to client RFPs.
