Job summary

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services (trading as PWR), seeks a Substation Engineer to focus on substation design and protection & control practices. The role is based in our Portland, ME office and reports to the Supervising Engineer.

Depending on experience, candidates may start as Design Engineer I, II, or III. Responsibilities include creating design documents, performing power system calculations, and applying engineering software for high voltage projects up to 500 kV.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3+ years of substation engineering design experience; senior levels 7+ years.
• Licensed professional engineer or ability to licensure within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Create design documents and wiring diagrams for projects.
• Perform relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
• Apply design software for ground grid, relay coordination, transformer sizing, load flow and fault studies.
• Review project schedules and ensure timetables are met.
• Apply NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
