Job summary

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services (trading as PWR), seeks a Substation Engineer for its Ruston, LA office. Designer will focus on substation engineering from 34.5kV to 500kV, with responsibilities spanning wiring diagrams, protection & control, and project coordination.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and at least 1 year of substation design experience; a PE license may place candidates at Engineer/Project Engineer levels. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• At least 1 year of experience in substation engineering design.
• Professional Engineer license may place you in Engineer/Project Engineer titles.

Responsibilities

• Create design documents and wiring diagrams with minimal supervision.
• Perform relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
• Apply software for ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow studies.
• Review project schedules with a project engineer to stay on track.
• Follow NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Travel for projects and training as required.
• Supervise project activities and coordinate with stakeholders.
