Job summary

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services, seeks a Substation Engineer for design work from 34.5kV to 500kV. Based in Portland, ME, you will generate design documents, wiring diagrams, and BOMs while applying NEC/NESC/IEEE standards.

Depending on experience, roles may be Design Engineer I–III, with opportunities for senior leadership. Candidates should have 3+ years in substation engineering design, a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, and the ability to travel on projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
• Substation design experience; senior roles require 7+ years in hands-on engineering design, PE license preferred or able to licensure within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Create design documents and drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and as‑built markups with minimal supervision.
• Perform relay burden, load flow, short-circuit calculations and related engineering tasks with minimal supervision.
• Apply engineering software for ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and studies with minimal supervision.
• Review project schedules and ensure adherence; communicate with project engineer and clients as needed.
• Follow NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards in all work.
• Manage documents and apply standard engineering practices; supervise project activities.
