Job summary

Dashiell, a Quanta Services unit, seeks a Substation Engineer for the Covington, LA office to design substations from 34.5kV to 500kV. You will draft design documents and wiring diagrams, and perform protection and control tasks with minimal supervision in a dynamic project team.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years in substation engineering design, and a PE license or licensure within one year. Occasional travel and adherence to industry standards are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3+ years of hands-on substation engineering design; senior roles require 7+ years.
• Licensed professional engineer or ability to licensure within one year.

Responsibilities

• Create design documents and wiring diagrams for projects.
• Perform relay burden, load flow, short circuit calculations.
• Apply engineering software for ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing.
• Review schedules with project engineer to keep projects on track.
• Adhere to NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Travel for training/meetings as required.
