Job summary

RES seeks a Preconstruction Manager to lead early project phases for battery storage, high‑voltage, and solar EPC opportunities. You will coordinate with executives, BD, engineering, estimating, procurement, and legal to craft winning execution strategies and schedules.

You’ll oversee risk reviews, contract development, and the hand‑over to construction teams, while guiding others and ensuring alignment with owner objectives. The role requires travel and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another construction/technical‑related field is required.
• PMP or similar Project Management Training is preferred.
• 3 years or more relevant construction or engineering experience is required.
• Ability to travel 5‑15% is required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects with urgency.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to supervise and guide indirect reports.
• Quickly develops an understanding of the project with available resources.
• Ability to solve complex technical and commercial issues.
• Ability to use logical, systematic problem solving.
• Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and HV/substation/construction processes (solar knowledge preferred).
• Skilled in Microsoft Office suite; GIS software; Google Earth; Primavera P6; Procore and SharePoint.
• Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid is a plus.
• Ability to adapt responsibilities based on project resource availability.
• Strong system thinking, attention to detail, collaboration, prioritization, and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction activities from RFP through to construction kick-off.
• Develop project execution strategy for proposals and identify stakeholders.
• Review proposal price, schedule, and deliverables with input from operations.
• Prepare initial construction schedule and cash flow deliverables.
• Coordinate with estimators, engineers, construction, and client to ensure accurate bidding documents.
• Monitor design scope against budget and schedule; document changes.
• Contribute to risk and proposal reviews and management meetings.
• Lead value engineering and value enhancement for proposals.
• Review contracts and exhibits for consistency and compliance.
• Ensure smooth turnover from Preconstruction to Construction with proper handoffs.
