Job summary
Hanson Professional Services, Inc. in Marion, IL is seeking an Electrical Engineer for medium/high-voltage design. The role requires PE licensure or the ability to obtain it within six months, and at least five years of consulting experience in HV power systems.
You will design HV distribution for renewables, prepare construction documents, conduct studies, and collaborate across offices while mentoring teammates. Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
- PE licensure or ability to obtain licensure within six months required.
- Minimum 5 years of consulting experience in medium- and high-voltage power system design.
- Experience preparing electrical construction drawings, specs, and submittals.
Responsibilities
- Design medium- and high-voltage power distribution and management systems for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS, EV charging, microgrids).
- Conduct traditional transmission and distribution design (underground and overhead).
- Prepare construction packages for 15 kV to 200 kV systems, including schematics and substation layouts.
- Perform QA/QC to meet standards.
- Provide field support for HV collection systems and substations up to 200 kV.
- Perform electrical studies (short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, etc.).
- Collaborate with civil/structural teams and coordinate across offices.
- Conduct feasibility and interconnection studies; prepare master plans.
- Participate in project management activities and shop drawing reviews.
- Mentor engineers within the Power Market team.
- Travel occasionally for client meetings and field reviews.
