Qualifications

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:

High School Testing Support

Reports to:

Division Director of Testing and High School Testing Coordinator

Salary Scale:

Temporary Service Agreement at an Hourly Rate of $18 per hour for approximately 180 hours

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provides planning, logistical, and proctoring support for high school assessments (including PSAT, SAT, ASVAB, AP, and SOL assessments) .

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Willingness to complete mandatory state and district test security training prior to test administration.
  • Familiarity with test security protocols, standardized testing environments, and assessment guidelines (e.g., Virginia SOL, College Board/AP).
  • Proficiency in using office and instructional technology (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, email) with the ability to quickly learn digital assessment platforms (e.g., TestNav, Bluebook).
  • Ability to establish and follow detailed work procedures with high organization, speed, accuracy, and independence.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and diverse audiences.
  • High degree of emotional maturity, objectivity, discretion, and sensitivity to student needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain strict test security, accountability, and confidentiality for all testing materials before, during, and after administration.
  • Assist the High School Testing Coordinator with the inventory, preparation, distribution, collection, and secure packing of paper and digital testing materials.
  • Proctor standardized assessments for large and small groups of students, maintaining a quiet, secure, and distraction-free environment while actively monitoring for test irregularities.
  • Navigate digital testing platforms (e.g., TestNav, Bluebook) to launch test sessions, assist students with basic technical troubleshooting, and track online testing progress.
  • Support the implementation of testing accommodations for eligible students (e.g., IEP, 504, EL requirements such as small group, read-aloud, or extended time).
  • Respond to phone, email, and in-person inquiries from staff and students in a professional, prompt, and courteous manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Effectively interact with students and staff. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; and subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members and students is required. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
