Job summary

Premera Blue Cross is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to collaborate with IT and business partners, document requirements, and support data-driven decision making. You will analyze processes, map requirements, and help ensure quality in a healthcare technology environment, contributing to backlog planning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Experience in a software development environment utilizing Agile delivery practices, including Scrum and SAFe.
Knowledge of project delivery methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
Experience using SQL for data analysis, data validation, troubleshooting, or reporting.
Knowledge of healthcare or health insurance industry processes and systems.
Experience with product development and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, Confluence, and Product Plan.
Customer-focused with demonstrated ability to understand and align solutions to business needs, operational impact, and customer value.
Hands-on exposure to relational or cloud database platforms such as SQL Server, Snowflake, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar.
Experience using reporting/visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Interest in AI, low-code, and workflow automation to improve processes.
Basic understanding of APIs and data exchange between applications.
Ability to build partnerships with stakeholders and maintain a high-quality experience.
Understands and applies quality standards incorporating functional and non-functional requirements.
Experience defining software requirements for low to moderately complex products or processes.
Fundamental understanding of analytical tools, relational databases, and data structures.
Ability to elicit, analyze, organize, document, and trace requirements throughout the lifecycle.
Ability to analyze data, processes, and system interactions to identify issues and solutions.
Makes sound tactical decisions using analysis and business context.
Basic problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with system development and design teams, assists in test planning, and helps triage issues.
Represents the business within an Agile delivery team and liaises between business and IT for new systems.
Documents requirements in epics, features, user stories, and business rules.
Applies cost-benefit analysis to evaluate solution options.
Maintains knowledge of Premera systems, applications, and processes.
Analyzes current and future-state processes to identify pain points and efficiency opportunities.
Uses tools to perform data analysis, validate requirements, troubleshoot issues, and propose solutions.
Performs data analysis to define requirements and support mapping and reporting.
Supports end users in testing and UAT scenarios.
Contributes to backlog priorities and sprint planning.
Identifies opportunities for process improvements with the delivery team.
