Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC is seeking a Staffing Coordinator to manage scheduling for Patient Care Units, perform edits in payroll systems, and ensure accurate staffing levels.

The role reports to the Staffing Manager of the Division of Nursing and requires strong organizational, interpersonal, and phone etiquette skills. A High School Diploma or GED is required, with potential technical training appreciated.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1–3 years experience as Office Assistant II or equivalent, with organizational and data entry responsibilities.
• Payroll or scheduling experience preferred.
• Ability to read and write; knowledge of grammar and arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Oversees staffing coordination for all Patient Care Units.
• Trouble shoots and problem solves staffing issues as necessary.
• Inputs, monitors and maintains accurate monthly staff schedules.
• Edits changes in API (Automating Peripherals Inc.).
• Proactively critiques time schedules for accuracy and variances.
• Maintains daily schedule changes in ClairVia.
• Maintains census accuracy in ClairVia.
• Covers for call outs and obtains extra staff when needed.
• Contacts Nurse Manager and Director as necessary for adequate staffing.
• Knows duties of each employee category and informs Nurse Managers.
• Answers all phone lines with proper etiquette and communicates schedule changes to the following shift.
• Assists co-workers with job duties when needed.
