Mayo Clinic is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units. You will monitor supplies, answer call lights, and assist the care team with orders in the EHR, while maintaining clear communication with patients and staff.

The role emphasizes teamwork, strong customer service, and adaptability to a dynamic hospital environment with a focus on patient needs and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills required.
• HUC post-secondary program or Certification preferred.
• Minimum one year in a medical environment preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
• EPIC experience and EHR familiarity preferred.
• Outstanding customer service and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the health care team.
• Monitor and order supplies; respond to patient call lights; escalate needs to nursing staff.
• Assist with managing orders in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff; support continuity of care.
• Serve as a resource to health care team members and support continuous improvement.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Strong keyboarding and basic computer skills

HUC post-secondary program or HUC Certification

1 year medical environment experience

Knowledge of basic medical terminology

EPIC and EHR systems familiarity

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
