Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support on patient care units. The role requires prompt response to patient call lights, assisting nursing staff, and handling orders within the electronic health record (EHR).

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, post-secondary HUC training or certification, and at least one year in a medical environment. Flexibility for shifts and weekend coverage is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of HUC post-secondary program, or HUC Certification preferred.
• Minimum of one year working experience in a medical environment preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and healthcare team.
• Answering patient call lights and elevating patient needs to nursing staff; assist with orders in the EHR.
• Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and facility staff; supports care team with continual improvement.
• Maintains certifications/licensure per work unit requirements.
