Job summary

Mayo Clinic is hiring a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the health care team. Responsibilities include monitoring supplies, answering call lights, and assisting with orders in the EHR, communicating effectively with patients and staff.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, and experience in a medical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and strong keyboarding skills (Windows-based applications, LAN, intranet/internet).
• Successful completion of HUC post-secondary program, or HUC Certification preferred.
• Minimum of one year working experience in a medical environment preferred.
• Outstanding customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the health care team.
• Monitor and order supplies, answer patient call lights, and elevate patient needs to nursing staff.
• Assist care team with managing orders in the EHR.
• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff and support continuum of care.
