Job summary

North Memorial Health is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to coordinate a patient care unit, handling reception and clerical tasks while supporting patient safety and accurate patient identification. This on-site role requires attention to detail and strong organizational skills in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Applicants should have a high school diploma (HU/Medical Secretary program preferred) and at least two years in a similar role.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Completion of a Health Unit Coordinator Program or Medical Secretary Program preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Medical Secretary, or related role in a hospital setting required.
• Detail oriented with strong time management and communication skills.
• Proficiency with written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate an efficient customer care unit with prompt, accurate and courteous processing of information.
• Perform reception and clerical activities and maintain unit workflow for staff, physicians, customers and families.
• Support Patient Safety goals including privacy, accuracy of patient identification, and improved communication among caregivers.
• Respond to customer alarms by alerting appropriate staff.
