Job summary

UCI Health seeks a Coding II professional to abstract and code outpatient visits, including ED, ambulatory surgery and clinic encounters, using ICD-9-CM and CPT. You will work with the 3M encoder and SMS/Invision, generate regular production reports, and participate in PI projects to support quality and efficiency.

Ideal candidates hold a 12-month AHIMA coding certificate, possess CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CPC-H credentials, and have at least two years of hospital coding experience with strong English

Qualifications

• Completion of AHIMA approved coding certificate program.
• Ability to assign codes accurately.
• Two years of acute hospital coding experience.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease processes and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Credentialed as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H.
• Ability to work independently and maintain workload pace.
• Ability to collaborate across the Health System.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and code outpatient visits using ICD-9-CM and CPT.
• Code using the 3M encoder and SMS/Invision systems.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production reports.
• Participate in departmental PI projects.
• Perform related duties to meet operational needs.
