Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Coder II to perform abstracting and coding for outpatient visits at UCI Medical Center, using ICD-9-CM and CPT with 3M encoder and SMS/Invision systems. The role includes producing regular production reports and supporting PI projects across the HIM department.

The successful candidate will have an AHIMA-approved coding certificate, at least two years of acute hospital coding experience, and strong English communication skills, with CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CPC-H credentials

Qualifications

• Completion of AHIMA-approved coding certificate program.
• Experience in acute hospital coding preferred.
• Must be able to assign codes accurately for ICD-9-CM and CPT.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Credentialed as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and code outpatient visits using ICD-9-CM and CPT for UCI Medical Center.
• Utilize 3M encoder and SMS/Invision systems for coding and data entry.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production reports; participate in PI projects.
