Job summary

Cengage Group in Massachusetts is seeking a Director of Web Experience Design to shape the vision and strategy for our web ecosystem, creating modern, compelling experiences that connect customers with our products and learning services.

You will lead a design team, mentor talent, and drive continuous optimization across discovery, ecommerce, and engagement through data, testing, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of people management experience leading and developing high-performing design teams.
• Strong experience with ecommerce, growth, conversion optimization, or other transactional digital experiences.
• Deep expertise in UX and UI design principles, with human-centered design methodologies and accessible, responsive interfaces.
• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, able to influence senior leaders and align cross-functional teams.
• A portfolio is required to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision for Cengage’s web experience and establish a clear UX/UI strategy for discovery, evaluation, purchase, and engagement.
• Partner with Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering to develop hypotheses and run A/B and multivariate tests.
• Advance ecommerce and conversion experiences and continuously improve high-value conversion moments.
• Design across the full customer journey from acquisition to onboarding and engagement.
• Use data to identify opportunities, combining qualitative research with analytics and funnel metrics.
• Build a culture of continuous optimization with iterative testing and learning.
• Stay ahead of evolving web practices, including AI-enabled experiences and accessibility.
