Job summary

Toole Design Group in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a senior transportation leader to guide our integrated transportation engineering and multimodal planning practice. You will mentor engineers and planners, shape technical direction, and stay active on major projects.

This leadership role combines practice leadership with project delivery across major plans, traffic safety analyses, and policy engagement, with a hybrid schedule and opportunities to grow within an employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of successful transportation engineering and multimodal planning project leadership.
• Experience leading integrated teams, programs, practices and projects.
• Proven ability in business development, proposal strategy, and client development.
• Commitment to creating safer, more equitable, and more sustainable transportation systems.
• PE is preferred; PTOE and/or AICP credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development and practice planning to meet annual growth targets.
• Oversee financial health through project delivery, workload management, staff development, and quality control.
• Collaborate with local, regional, and corporate leadership to advance practice priorities.
• Recruit and advise on hiring decisions to support local and firmwide growth goals.
• Advance training, innovation, and quality control to keep our technical work at the forefront of the industry.
• Support marketing and raise the practice's local and national visibility.
• Guide subject matter resource groups that support practice delivery, including traffic engineering, multimodal planning, transportation design and related specialties.
