Job summary

Valon is seeking a Head of Infrastructure to unify Valon’s Cloud Infrastructure and Developer Infrastructure into one cohesive organization. This senior leader will define strategy across Compute, Storage, data platforms, tooling, CI/CD, and observability.

You will build and grow a high-performing team, balance production reliability with developer productivity, and partner with product, security, data, and operations to deliver a measurable roadmap.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with 4+ years leading multiple teams or a large infrastructure org.
• Experience owning a broad infrastructure portfolio including cloud platforms, compute, storage, databases, SRE or related domains.
• Strong technical depth in distributed systems and operating production systems at scale.
• Experience setting strategy across production infrastructure and developer experience.
• Hands-on experience with cloud providers such as AWS or GCP, container orchestration, data stores, CI/CD, and observability.
• Excellent organizational judgment to sequence foundational investments and balance business outcomes with technical work.
• Proven success hiring, developing and retaining strong teams during rapid growth and change.
• Clear, concise communication and ability to align across engineering, product, security, data, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate a multi-year infrastructure strategy spanning Cloud Infrastructure and Developer Infrastructure.
• Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing organization including engineering managers and senior technical leaders.
• Own portfolio roadmap and investment decisions across Compute, Storage, data platforms, developer experience, CI/CD, test infrastructure, and observability.
• Set company-wide standards for reliability, security, service ownership, incident management, and developer productivity.
• Partner with executives to align infrastructure priorities with product strategy and business goals.
• Build planning, review, and operating mechanisms to make progress visible and tradeoffs explicit.
• Stay hands-on to guide architecture and lead critical technical decisions.
• Recruit exceptional talent and foster a culture of high agency and accountability.
