Job summary

First Tech Federal Credit Union is seeking a Director of AI & Automation to lead a team of engineers focused on agentic AI, workflow orchestration, and automation. The role drives architecture, standards, and governance for AI-enabled solutions across the organization.

You will partner with product owners, manage multiple teams across domains, and shape the future of AI adoption with strong leadership and technical acumen. Marlborough/Chelmsford, MA, or Hillsborough with onsite work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 6+ years in technology, engineering, or IT operations with leadership experience.
• Proven ability to lead engineers in fast-moving, ambiguous domains.
• Working knowledge of workflow automation and orchestration concepts.
• Familiarity with AI and agentic automation concepts.
• Experience managing engineers across multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Track record of building team culture and engineering standards.
• Strong judgment in evaluating new tools and approaches.
• Comfortable at the intersection of leadership, technical judgment, and strategy.
• Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers across agentic AI and workflow automation disciplines.
• Own engineering quality and technical standards across domains.
• Drive adoption of agentic coding practices and emerging approaches.
• Partner with Product Owners to align priorities and context.
• Evaluate automation tooling and frameworks and advise leadership.
• Contribute to governance of responsible AI and production deployment.
• Manage hiring, onboarding, performance, and growth of engineers.
• Maintain visibility into pod delivery and surface risks.
• Represent AI & Intelligent Automation engineering in cross-functional discussions.
