Job summary

First Tech Federal Credit Union is seeking a Principal Agentic AI Engineer to own the technical direction for automation and agentic AI systems, delivering from design through production while mentoring other engineers.

You will lead architecture decisions, collaborate with AI Architects and Senior engineers, and partner with Product Owners to scope opportunities, establish guardrails, and ensure reliable, production-ready AI solutions in a regulated financial services environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including automation, AI, or data engineering
• Experience delivering software to production
• Experience mentoring or leading engineers
• Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of a degree
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments a plus
• Familiarity with guardrails frameworks a plus
• Proficiency with agent observability tools a plus

Responsibilities

• Delivers automation and agentic AI systems end-to-end from discovery through production
• Designs and maintains RAG pipelines, agent evaluation harnesses, and guardrails
• Mentors senior and mid-level engineers
• Partners with PO on discovery and scoping
• Drives AI-assisted development adoption
• Develops and enforces prompt engineering standards and safety patterns
