Job summary

First Tech Federal Credit Union is seeking a Principal Agentic AI Engineer to own the technical direction of multiple automation and agentic AI workstreams. You will deliver end-to-end systems from design through production, implement guardrails, and mentor engineers in a regulated financial services environment.

You will collaborate with the AI Architect and Product Owner, evaluate tool choices, and build robust, observable AI platforms with strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with automation, AI focus.
• Production-grade delivery experience beyond prototyping.
• Mentor and lead growth of engineers.
• Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with agent observability tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with guardrails frameworks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver automation and agentic AI systems end-to-end from discovery to production.
• Design and maintain RAG pipelines and agent evaluation harnesses.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and invest in their growth.
• Collaborate with Product Owner on discovery and scoping with technical credibility.
• Drive AI-assisted development adoption across teams.
• Develop and enforce prompt engineering standards and safety patterns.
