Job summary

General Motors is seeking Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns to perform hands-on work in a plant setting. You will engage in mechanical root-cause analysis, support programs, and lead mechanical projects across multiple areas of the plant including operations improvements and replacement programs.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Mechatronics.
• Graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving.
• Analyze product, process and technology to figure out the best methods of manufacture.
• Assist in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes.
• Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
• Troubleshoot special maintenance and equipment problem.
• Coordinate machinery upgrade projects.
• Walk/stand for prolonged periods; lift up to 40 lbs as needed.
• Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled.
